1.] White tea also contains some amount of caffeine which might prove to be harmful if consumed in large amounts during pregnancy. 

2.] The unborn child does not have the ability to digest and absorb caffeine as the mother, thus the mother has to be careful about the intake of caffeine during that time. However, a little caffeine does not harm the baby in any manner. 

3.] White tea also has weight loss properties and thus should be avoided during the days of pregnancy. 

4.] A pregnant mother should definitely consult a doctor before she gets into a constant habit of tea consumption during her pregnancy. 

Caffeine present in white tea 

  • Normal white tea contains some amount of caffeine in it which might become a concern during pregnancy as an overdose of caffeine is considered to be very harmful to the unborn child. However, decaffeinated white tea is also available, which can be easily added to a pregnancy diet chart as the amount of caffeine in decaffeinated white tea is very less and won't harm the baby.

  • A normal cup of white tea contains about 40 to 50 milligrams of caffeine in each cup, whereas a decaffeinated white tea contains only 1 gram of caffeine per cup, which can be easily consumed during pregnancy.

  • There is no specific limit of caffeine intake during pregnancy, but caffeine happens to be a sensitive topic, and it is always better to consult a doctor before adding any drink which contains caffeine to a pregnancy diet chart.

Different types of ingredients which can be added to a cup of white tea during pregnancy

White tea can be prepared very easily just like any other tea.  the simplest way of preparing why it is by adding the tea leaf into boiling water and leaving it covered for at least 5 to 10 minutes for accurate absorption.  later the tea can be strained and directly consumed or can be flavoured with a spoon of honey  to add that extra tinge of sweetness. However it is also worth knowing that this simple recipe can be experimented with in different ways.  Some interesting twists are mentioned below:- 

  • Adding Ginger - Add a few ginger roots while boiling the water, once the water has reached the boiling point add the tea leaves and leave it covered for 10 minutes. Once this is done you can season it with honey for the extra sweetness. Adding ginger adds extra flavor to the tea and helps to cure morning sickness and nausea. 

  • Adding Lemon - After boiling the water with the tea leaves leave it covered for 10 minutes. Once this is done strain the tea and add either a table spoon full of lemon juice or a whole slice of lemon. Doing so adds an incredible citrus flavor to the tea and helps to prevent nausea during pregnancy. 

  • Adding Mint - Add a few mint leaves while boiling the water, once the water has reached the boiling point add the tea leaves and leave it covered for 10 minutes. Once this is done you can season it with honey for the extra sweetness. Adding mint leaves adds an extra refreshing flavor to the tea and helps to cure morning sickness and nausea.
